The 'Dots & Static' collection took inspiration from television. The abstract prints refer to commercial breaks, static and addiction. With 'Dots and Static' they liked to play with the RGB color palette from TV. Other items got greyscale colorways, like back in the days. Simple & bold graphics. That’s MESMO.
The project came to realization when game developer Codeglue met MESMO. As the leading Dutch publishing party on PlayStation Home they saw this collaboration as the perfect way to offer an original and existing label to the community on Sony’s virtual gaming platform. The collaboration is a fine example of how two different industries combine their creativity.
Kjell van Ginkel, owner of MESMO:
“We live in a time where being online plays a big role in our lives. It is amazing to let people wear their favorite clothing in both the real world and on their online avatar. By working together with Codeglue we can reach out to a completely different audience. It’s not as strange as it sounds; if you think about it, people simply want to express themselves in both the real world as well as the virtual world. By releasing our clothing line like this, we merge these worlds together.”
Peter de Jong, owner of Codeglue:
“When I met Kjell from MESMO I immediately fell in love with the abstract designs on his T- shirts! I liked the idea of offering his graphic clothing in our store on PlayStation Home. The first meeting quickly turned into an amazing joint venture. The result is that MESMO's ‘Dots & Static’ collection is now digitally available worldwide!
Jurrie Hobers, president of the Dutch Games Association:
"This collaboration between MESMO and Codeglue is an excellent example of a crossover between different creative branches. Fashion, graphic design and gaming merge together, which is great. This is exactly what the Federation Dutch Creative Industries aims for in the coming years.”
