Tolerance of stupidity has reached its brink. How I wish I could randomly smack people with baseball bats. Alright, here’s the story. Some near and dear friends are having a baby inside SL. Love is a beautiful thing and since they’ll never be able to have a real child together, they want the experience or as close as they can get of it. I think they are wonderful people who I love to pieces and wish them much happiness in this venture.
I have friends of all races, sexes, sexuality and so on. I don’t discriminate. The only person I’ve ever defriended over how they live their SL was a man who had a little kid fetish. I have no issues with child avatars, I have one myself. He liked to sexualize them and that is not just illegal in SL it makes my tummy turn. Pedophilia is something I can’t tolerate. We all have our boundaries.
These friends were talking about their impending bouncing bundle of joy in local when people who call themselves friends began jumping on them. They tore into them for doing something they thought was gross or annoying but it comes down to that they don’t understand it and don’t want to. Not a very enlightened way of thinking if you ask me.
It pains me to see my friends hurt, sure I’ll never meet them outside of this virtual world but they still mean something to me. I am so happy to see them happy and to see them reaching for something that they both want is beautiful. Plus I get to be Tia Gin and that’s awesome. They’re good people with big hearts. One of them is my SL brother and he’s always been there, never blinked an eye at any of my crazy. Just accepted me as I am and I appreciate that.
Pixel babies or prim babies aren’t for everyone. The people who role play a pregnancy do it for whatever reasons. Sometimes it’s just for the sake of role play, others it’s to capture something they’ve never had or never will have in the real world. Trying to create something as fragile as life, something we take for granted daily, inside a game, build a family is no easy feat. Why make it harder for someone you call a friend?
These two already have a hard road ahead of them from people’s ignorance without adding on to it with people being asses. It’s like high school in SL some days, everyone trying to be part of the cool kids club, clawing their way to the top one knife in the back at a time. Why in a world where anything is possible would you grief someone over having a life they might not otherwise? I know I push that this is just a game and it is, but there are real people on the other end. They have real feelings and real worth. We should all try and remember that more often.
