The Sims 3 Goes Haute Couture

You’ve heard our complaints and bitching about how The Sims franchise has become seriously watered down. It’s on every console, and while most gamers would say this is a good thing, Simmers (as we’ve dubbed ourselves) don’t like it one bit.The experience of the Sims is most golden on the PC. Everywhere is just cheap imitation. This being said, even the PC version hasn’t rung any bells for a lot of us. However, we had to spotlight them for Fashion Week, because Late Night finally won us over. What did it? Well mostly it was the clothes.

Players with an extremely creative side, but lacking in sewing and artistic skills can create some the most outrageous and beautiful haute couture. This little feature was added with the initial release of The Sims 3. But as each new expansion pack was released, the clothing got more elaborate. Simmers were able to add even more detailed modifications to each outfit, by adding everything from Metal to Wood as a texture. Each creation is completely unique, meaning; no two Simmers Sims will have the exact same outfit. So, your Super Star Sims won’t be complaining that someone else wore their exact same dress on the Red Carpet.

Again, customization in The Sims is nothing new; Simmers have been creating their own clothes since the first Sims was released. The Sims fame came not just from an innovative game, but due to the fact that most anyone could create anything and stick it in any Sims game. There were and are several entire collections of clothes by Sims designers out on the web. All made by the most talented men and women to ever bend a pixel. But never have they been given the option to create one of a kind fashions right in game, no Photoshop skills required, just a really good eye. With the next incarnation of The Sims being set in Medieval times, we’re sure to see even more outrageous fashions next year.Chainmail anyone?
