Oh yes, the baby fever hit Gingir recently. Thankfully, I now have had my booster shot to virtual babies and crazy baby daddies. On the upside in my travels and searches for the perfect virtual baby, I found the most amazing thing ever, Baby Tatu. A virtual AI baby that eats, poops, crawls, walks, cries and grows! This is the next big thing in SL babies.
I of course immediately messaged the creator to see if we here at Gameinatrix could get our hands on one of these adorable bundles of genius coding. Efimero Aker is the mind behind Baby Tatu and he was generous enough to set me up with not only Baby Tatu, but the hud, diapers, toys, clothing maker, cradle, raddle and a whole slew of BETA items not yet available in the Baby Tatu store!Oh yes, baby Ghoststar was well on it’s way to being a reality.
The first time I rezzed Baby Tatu he was tiny, infant sized and immediately started wailing just like a new born does. My poor uterus about did back flips. Watching him crying on the floor I was powering through the instructions while chatting with Efimero about Baby Tatu’s development, trying to make sure I got each step correct so that I could pick him up and make him stop crying. The sounds are not some badly utilized voice overs with a voice changer, Baby Tatu’s cries and sounds are those of a real child. They literally tear at your heart strings if you’re an overly hormonal female.
Once you rez out Baby Tatu you will get the registration code, keep this as if you lose it you won’t be able to recover the baby. You can also use this time to go to EDIT and set his/her name. Don’t forget to set his family and his/her sex. I set mine as a boy and named him Nate Ghoststar. Once that was done, you select “Save to Inventory” and then you can put him in your inventory to equip and hold.
Right away you will notice that he will let you know what he needs to be happy. You can also use him in conjunction with the hud but it’s not a necessary item, it just gives you easier access to his stats. Yes, folks, this baby comes with STATS! You must keep him fed, clean, happy and rested or he will get sick. All of this affects his developing personality and growth. If you treat your baby badly then your baby is liable to be a sickly brat. If you take care of your baby well then he will be a happy healthy baby. Medicine to heal your baby can affect his stats as well so it’s better to keep him healthy.
I know some of you read “clean” and are wondering.. wtf it’s pixels.. but I didn’t stutter. You have to change his diapers, which you can purchase from the Baby Tatu store. Medicine can also be bought at the store. The development of Baby Tatu is not unsimilar to the breedables that are such a big craze in Second Life. This thing is very realistic for Second Life, the baby shape and design is bulky but I’m sure with time it will advance and look as real as some of the regular prim babies do.
The main draw of Baby Tatu is the AI, artificial intelligence or “A-Life”. How you take care of your baby, how you interact with your baby affects his or her developing personality. Each one will be different because of how the individual parents interact with him/her. Also, multiple Baby Tatu’s can interact with one another. One could be a social butter fly, another might not like crowds and want their parent, another could be a bully and be mean to the other babies.
The other amazing thing about Baby Tatu? He grows! You don’t have to purchase upgrades. As Baby Tatu matures he will develop from an newborn to an infant and then to a toddler. He will learn to sit up, learn to crawl and eventually walk too. Baby Tatu is amazing! This is some genius coding. There is a slight issue with him and heights but that is just Second Life being Second Life.
Honestly, if you are looking for a prim baby and want something more than just a doll to carry around then Baby Tatu is for you. He’s amazing and I will be the first to admit I’ve not always been a fan of the prim baby phenomenon inside Second Life. I am so in love with my Baby Tatu. I would and do totally recommend Baby Tatu to those of you in the market. I predict Baby Tatu will be the next big thing in virtual families. Thank you again to Efimero Aker for allowing me the chance to check out Baby Tatu.
