The first thing I thought when seeing this title was Oh God, not another one of these girlie type titles’. But after letting our resident next gen little girl gamers (try saying that four times fast) play a few rounds, I quickly remembered what it was like to be a little girl.
My Boyfriend places you in the roll of a college girl on the lam with her BFF for a fun and sun weekend on a tropical island.I’ll bet this is sounding good to quite a few girls out there trapped in our winter laden states.So once on this island, you’ll find you’re broke (so true for a lot of college girls) and bored out of your skull.Thanks to businesses who are for some reason short staffed during tourist season and hot guys that have nothing better to do, you won’t lack for adventure, mystery and intrigue.Your character can earn money in the form of mini games such as delivering mail against the clock, or memory games where you serve ice cream cones.Your character can then purchase food and even some clothes for the few dates you’ll go on.You can also collect items to use in special “errands” given you by other tourists on the island.Yeah I thought it was supposed to be a vacation too, but hey, a girl has gotta eat.
I won’t give away the plot but let’s just say, not all hot guys are created equal in My Boyfriend and you’ll find yourself in the midst of a drama worthy of the whole Twilight saga.Boyfriend did suffer from some odd graphical glitches and the girlie girl in us has to say some of the clothing was…hmmm..ok we’ll say good try, but epic fail. The game also lacks the ability to FULLY customize your character, so don’t expect to make your college version of Michelle Obama any time soon. Still, little girls won’t even notice the clothing and customization, but will most likely get caught up in the whole romance and earning money aspects.Big girl gamers, this title is definitely not for you.Anyone over the age of 9 will most likely find this title annoying and tell their virtual boyfriend where to stick it. Though some of the mini games are a bit monotonous,most of our next gen gamers loved the game and dropped in begging to play it often, hence it taking so long to review. YOU try fighting off a mob of little girls who wanna see if their virtual boyfriend will FINALLY kiss their character today .
