Being the hardcore gamer that I am (ahem... Cori), I got the PC version of the game even though I have both a PS3 and XBOX 360 to review games on. I figured that if I was going to smash some Ork faces in, I wanted to do it in style. After having some initial problems downloading the game from Steam, I got it installed and proceeded to try and play a multiplayer match.
After 20 min of watching the loading screen for a match that I was automatically paired with, I had to Ctrl+Alt+Delete my way out of the game and restart my PC. I tried to connect to multiplayer several times each time experiencing the same problem. I played the Demo and had no problems with the campaign in that, so I decided to try the single player campaign. Everything was running smoothly, after changing some graphics card settings to get rid of an annoying problem with the textures popping in and out, until I got to chapter 2. Chapter 2 sees Titus finally make planet fall proper and receive the signature Space Marine weapon, the Boltgun. After getting my guantleted hands on that classic part of the Space Marine arsenal and killing two shootaboys, I proceeded to head to an open area that looked ripe for an ambush. Except, no ambush... and soon... no ground. That's right, I said no GROUND. Apparently, the level stopped loading in somewhere between me killing the shootaboys and moving to the open section of the map. I could blow up a wall... walk around in the air for a while... bump into countless invisible walls... but never progress beyond that.
I'm not the only one experiencing this issue either. The official forums have several posts of PC users experiencing the exact same problem. Hopefully, Relic and THQ will provide a patch for this soon.
It is interesting that no other major game sites have picked up on this problem and reported it because it seems to be wide spread.
